There are three major cuisines in the world; Turkish, Chinese,
and French. Today, I want to give some information about Turkish cuisine. The
recipes of Turkish cuisine are various because Turkey is a crossroad between
Europe, Asia and the Orient. That’s why it has a rich culture. It was also
affected by its neighboring countries such as Greece, Bulgaria, Iraq, Syria,
Iran and Armenia.
This great variety in Turkish cuisine causes regional cuisines
to have various dishes. For example, the cuisine of the Black
Sea Region is famous for seafood such as Hamsili Pilav, Hamsi
Buğulaması… Also, there are some kinds of meat such as Akçaabat Köfte, Bolu Kebabı… I usually prefer eating
Akçaabat Köfte. It is grilled minced meat with seasons.
Anatolia and Southeast of Turkey are well-known for Kebabs (grilled meat in Turkish), meze, spices and desserts.
You should taste Baklava. I highly recommend it.
For Turkish people, tea and coffee have great importance. Tea is a sign of hospitality in Turkey. It is served if you
are a guest and it is often offered at the end of a meal. Turkish coffee is different from many other countries’ coffee.
You can specify its cooking or its sugaring method. Turkish people think it goes well with sweets like Turkish
delight.
There are so many other things you can learn about Turkish cuisine. You can search on the Internet but in my
opinion, you should come to Turkey as a guest to see the real hospitality.
